From 19th to 22th May, the Université Paris-Est Créteil (UPEC) will host Aurora Annual Conference 2025. This three-day event will bring together thought leaders, experts, academics, staff, and students from Aurora universities to share knowledge and experiences on education, research and innovation, sustainability, societal impact, and much more. Wednesday, May 21st, 2025:  SDGs Methodologies Seminar / Open Event 

AURORA’s Hub for Health & Well-being is pleased to announce its final seminar series, which will center on "The University of Tomorrow." This series will examine innovative strategies for the integration of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into teaching methodologies.

This open AURORA seminar will feature a keynote lecture by Professor Elizabeth Blackburn, Nobel Prize in Medicine. In addition, the seminar will include participation from representatives of the United Nations Environment Programme and the Learning Planet Institute, along with student-led sessions as well as contributions from educational experts, all intended to foster knowledge and collaboration among distinct stakeholders.

2:00 PM Opening 

Keynote Speaker: Professor Elizabeth Blackburn, Nobel Prize in Medicine: ‘A journey from telomeres to societal issues: how using a single theme can be a nexus for integrating different world views.’

2:40 PM: ‘Climate change and sustainability’ – Ms. Merlyn Van Voore (United Nations Environment Programme - UNEP).

3:10 PM: ‘Interconnecting Knowledges for Planetary Health: A Transformative Environmental and Sustainability Education Through the Dialogue Between Sciences and Culture’ – Dr. María Angélica Mejía Cáceres (Learning Planet Institute (LPI))

3:40 - 4:00 PM Coffee Break

4:00 PM: Student Session: Advancing sustainable development and open sciences in future universities along with Aurora ambassadors.

4:40 PM: Roundtable Discussion: SDGs in Higher Education - The AURORA Experience along with Sofia Zampedri, Dr. Jorim Tielbeek, Dr. Toby Erik Wikström and Dr. Maxim Tomoszek.

5:10 PM: ‘Empowering Futures: Advancing Sustainable Development and Open Science in the University of Tomorrow’ – Dr. Felipe Koch (AEI International School – UPEC)
